Impediments!!!

Many Scrum team members forget about the main reason of doing Stand up meetings (I prefer to mention on that way instead of Daily meetings) that is: chat about impediments. Fortunately there are many Scrum Master such as Hector Mosquera (he is from Colombia but works in Chile for a couple of years) who focus on chatting about impediments during the Stand up.

Do visible your impediments!!!

Indeed, one of the best way to take into account the impediments is making them visible. I strongly recommend to Scrum teams to build a radiator for impediments. It means to have a board with the impediments found in the Sprint. To do that each team member has to add a post-it mention the impediment in the impediment board as soon as they found them.

Then in the Sprint Retrospective team members should analyse about the origin of the impediments. As far as I know most impediments are systemic so you will find many times during many Sprints so you need to do a research (sometimes it is very easy to find the reason of the issue: we have delays with the design of interfase because there is one designer for several teams) about the source of the impediments.

Dependencies

I used to work in a company that struggled with the lack of architects. If you are facing with the same issue empower your team in order to take technical decision so you will remove the dependency. This tip is no good for UX designer because the UX is very important to delegate user experience in any team because the interfase is very important to sell your product in the market.

Knowledge silos

If your most usual impediment is the lack of expertise of your team members. It means your team is blocked many times waiting for the validation of stakeholders because the Product Owner lacks of knowledge about the product it is the duty to PO to get that knowledge.

To conclude, impediments are systemic so you need to work on removing them!!!
