This book is related to Feedback that is a crucial subject to improve as persona and professional.

Feedback is very important and most important is the way that you give to employees (or your loved ones).

During the book you will find with three techniques to provide feedback in a polite and kind way.

The first technique is called FECE – Facts, Emotions, Connections and Expectations.

Yesterday, you came out of a status meeting before the end. I was counting on your support to the end. After you left, I was uncomfortable. It was impossible for me to focus on the presentation and I did not say what I prepared. I propose that next time we will agree before the meeting when one of us can go out. Is it OK?

Facts: You start from the description of a particular event or situation that you do not like. Remember to use the facts, what happened and when it happened. Yesterday, you came out of a status meeting before the end

Emotions: Then review how you felt in connection with this event or situation. I was hoping for your support to the end and then I felt uncomfortable

Consequences: Mention what the action affected and what happened because of the way you were feeling. Sometimes the consequences coincide with the feelings. If this happens, you can skip this step. It was impossible for me to focus on the presentation and I did not say what I prepared.

Expectations: Mention exactly what you need to feel comfortable in such situations. I propose that next time we will agree before the meeting when one of us can go out.

This method contains all necessary elements to construct a proper feedback.

The other techniques you can discover if you buy the book.

Furthermore, the author put several exercises to understand in a practical way some topics so you will get a full knowledge of them.

To sum it up, if you want to start giving feedback more effectively let’s go to Amazon and buy this great book.

I am all about helping companies to adopt agile as methodology in Chile. Why? I believe many organizations think that agile is not for Chilean companies because of Chilean culture is totally different from i.e. USA culture but I worked with Chilean professionals who after using agile realized it is feasible to implement it. Agile works in small and large projects and there are many evidences which demonstrate this.
