Agile is expensive













Many companies want to adopt Agile or move from Waterfall to Agile but few of them consider the cost of implementing Agile as a future benefit.

It is not only training!!!

If you (or your company) is planning to adopt Agile you need to consider that training is the first thing you should do but it is not the last.

Possible roadmap

You can hire an Agile company to teach you about Agile values, Scrum and Kanban (just in case you want to know different Agile approaches) but this will be the first step into the Agile journey.

Value Stream Mapping

One of the first things that every company has to deal is to define the Value Stream Mapping. It means, define the process for every area in your company to request an IT project. For instance, Canvas business is a great tool to manage future projects. In the Canvas business you need to include the problem you need to solve, Risks, benefits, and stakeholders involved in the project. With this awesome tool everyone that wants any project will be able to show why the company should invest money and effort to develop and why the company need to pospone (or cancel) other projects.

Human Resource

What about the career ladder? Well, as you know if you work with Scrum you should evaluate as a team and then the team have to evaluate the performance of each team member according to the value (and help) that he provides to the rest of the team.

Indeed, you need to develop a new way to raise the salary (you don’t need to promote anyone to chief to give more money).

Last but not least, you need to invest on training (and coaching) for people in order to change their roles (if it is necessary) i.e. business people can be great Product Owners, a developer would take the role of Scrum Master but all of them need to be trained and this cost money but the ROI will be great for your company!!!
