Agile is changing everything including the way of conducting job interviews. I supposed you are thinking what is he talking about?
Well, I participated of many jobs interviews as Business Analyst, Developer and QA Analyst as well. Every time, I have to pass for many technical test. However, what is important if you are applying for an Agile position? You have to answer real questions about Agile situations. I would like to give some examples for Scrum Master (or Agile Coach) interviews.
Are you working with remote teams?
Even that one of the Agile encourages the communication face-to-face many companies have remote teams (most of the times to do testing in India for instance) if necessary to explain how to deal with remote teams.
How to deal with conflicts between team members?
Agile is not the happy island so yes you will run into with personal (and professional) conflicts because of that you have to explain what is your experience to figure these kind of conflicts out.
Who is in charge to write user stories?
Of course your quick answer will be: the Product Owner and the fastest question would be: what do you do if the Product Owner is only a manager who doesn’t know how to write user stories? Well, there are two opitions: replace the Product Owner or coach him.
As far as you read there is not any technical test until now. Why? Because in Agile the most important item is to demonstrate experience (obviously every candidate has to have knowledge about Agile, Scrum and Kanban). I absolutely agree with Tobias Mayer that certification in Scrum as Scrum Master, Developer or Product Owner is useless. Why? Because when you finished the training (a couple of days or a couple of days more) you will only get a paper that is not warranty of anything.
Last but not least, if you want to hire an Agile Developer for instance I would suggest to do questions about refactoring, unit test, work as tester or designer if the team needs. Agile is transforming every way of thinking including the process of job interview!!!!
